The volunteer notes that the cleanup took about five minutes near their workplace. In the after photo, the large paper litter is gone and the planting bed looks more cared for, with the remaining dry leaves appearing to be natural organic debris from the trees.

Paper litter may seem less harmful than plastic, but it still matters in Los Angeles. Loose newspaper can blow from a tree well or planting bed into the street, where rain or irrigation runoff can carry it toward gutters and storm drains.
