CleanLA Volunteers

About Us

Neighbors making Los Angeles cleaner, greener, and more beautiful — one small spot at a time.

Our Mission

Clean LA Volunteers inspires Angelenos to spend a few minutes improving their neighborhoods — removing litter from parks, sidewalks, and public spaces, and documenting every before-and-after transformation. We believe a cleaner city starts with one small spot, one pair of gloves, one neighbor who decides to care.

Our Vision

A Los Angeles where every block has someone who looks out for it. Where kids grow up seeing adults take pride in shared spaces. Where “somebody should clean that up” becomes “let’s clean it up this Saturday.”

Why Clean Neighborhoods Matter

  • Cleaner spaces stay cleaner. Research consistently shows litter attracts more litter — and a clean spot encourages people to keep it that way.
  • Litter doesn’t stay put. Trash on our sidewalks washes into storm drains and ends up in the LA River and the Pacific Ocean.
  • Pride is contagious. A transformed corner lifts the whole block — neighbors notice, businesses notice, kids notice.
  • It brings us together. A two-hour cleanup builds more community than a hundred online posts.

Community Impact

Every cleanup is documented in our Cleanup Gallery with before-and-after photos, so you can see exactly what volunteer hands accomplish. From Echo Park to Venice, our volunteers are proving that small actions add up to a visibly cleaner city.

We don’t wait for someone else to fix it. We grab gloves, bring friends, and leave every spot better than we found it.

— The Clean LA Volunteers credo

A Volunteer’s Story

It usually starts small. You notice the same corner on your walk — the one with the scattered cups and chip bags. One Saturday you finally bring a bag and ten minutes later, it’s gone. A neighbor waves. Someone asks what group you’re with. The next weekend, there are three of you.

That’s how this whole organization began — and it’s how it grows, one small spot at a time.

Our Story So Far

  • The first bag — One volunteer, one littered corner, one trash bag. The before-and-after photo said everything.
  • Friends join in — Weekend cleanups become a habit. Gloves and grabbers multiply.
  • Clean LA Volunteers is born — A name, a mission, and a promise: document every transformation.
  • Today — Neighbors across Los Angeles joining cleanups, adopting spots, and inspiring their own blocks.
  • Tomorrow — Your neighborhood? Join us and let’s find out.
